Email marketing is alive and well! If done correctly it will build your business faster than any other marketing method!

Email marketing is the number one way to promote your business online. If you want to succeed with your online business, email marketing is a MUST.

Marketing itself is a never ending task. As long as you're in
business, you will have to actively market your product or service. There are advantages to marketing through email;

It is free.

Not only is your message/advertisement delivered instantly, so are customer orders!

Following up with new products/services is free.

Having a fantastic website is great, but it alone won't bring
in customers.
That's what email marketing will do for you! Without an effective and aggressive marketing plan, no one will even know your great website/product/service exists!

Let's
look at some ways to market your product or service through email.

Opt-In List
-----------

"Opt-In" is a list of prospects that have contacted you and have given you permission to email them about your product/service. Prospects contact you requesting more information or to join your ezine/e-newsletter and you add them to your Opt-In list of contacts.

This is the safest way to handle your marketing campaigns.

If you do not have a
person's permission to email them with your advertising/marketing campaigns, you are spamming that person.

Spam is unsolicited commercial email. It is email you send to someone who you've
had no prior relationship with. This is not the way to handle your marketing campaigns. Most likely the person you have spammed will report you and you risk losing your hosting/ISP etc.

Build your opt-in list instead and market safely.

Ways you can build your opt-in list;

Your current customers.
Your best source of contacts is your current customer list. It is easy to sell to satisfied customers who already know you. Since they are willing to receive your campaigns, your chance of success is greatly increased. Your targeted list will bring you more orders and profit.

Referrals.
Contact your prospects and offer to send information to their friends who may be interested in your product or service.

Joint Venture with a non-competitive, related business. Exchange a split of the profit for an endorsed mailing of your offer to their customer list.

Advertising.
Include your email address in ALL advertising you do!

Website Visitors.
Include a "subscribe to" form for your e-newsletter/ezine onto your website.
Don't have a e-newsletter or ezine? Start one! This is a great way to boost your business. You can follow up and sell to your opt-in list over and over and over again!

Autoresponders
--------------

A great way to free up some time and automate your campaign is to use an autoresponder. Setting up an autoresponder means having a system that can make sales 24/7 automatically!

Use your autoresponder as the contact email address your prospects use to receive more information about your product/service. Store this list in a safe place, you will be able to sell to this list over and over again. Make sure the message your prospects receive from your autoresponder is professional, thorough, personable and check your grammar and spelling. Your autoresponder should also be able to send multiple messages at set intervals you determine. It takes a customer 7-12 times of seeing your offer before they decide to buy!

If you are going to use your autoresponder to handle your ezine/e-newsletter, make sure it can handle your subscribe and unsubscribe tasks.

Your autoresponder can stay in contact with your customers informing them of new products/services, follow-up on sales, reminder of your products benefits, etc.

Ezine Advertising
-----------------

You can find ezines on practically every subject under the sun. Most people subscribe to at least one ezine that they receive by email on a regular basis.

Ezine advertising is a great way to market your product/service. Do a search for ezines relative to what you offer and sign up (the majority of ezine/e-newsletters are free to join!). Some offer free advertising, some offer contests to win free advertising, most offer very reasonable advertising rates. Solo mailings are the most effective form of ezine/e-newsletter advertising. Your ad is sent, alone, to the ezine's
entire subscriber base!

You could also find affordable advertising through ezine co-ops. Purchasing advertising through an ezine co-op will place your classified ad in numerous ezines for one price. You'll be added to each ezine's subscriber base. Most ask that you stay subscribed until your ad is run.

Here are some great co-ops to check out; Essential Team

Signature Tags
--------------
Signature tags are little blurbs at the end of your email messages. They should be about 2-3 lines total length. Make sure they include your website address or business email address. Signature tags are a great way to get in some free advertising. Include them each email you send out! You could also partner with someone who has a product/service relative to yours. Each time they send out an email your signature tag is included and vice versa.

Letterhead
----------
Make and save an email template (in notepad or similar program) and put your advertisement at the top of each email you send out! Again, keep this short, about 2-3 lines maximum. Each time you send out an email, insert your template first before composing your message. Your ad will be the first thing seen each time your message is read!

Yes, email marketing is alive and well! With aggressive and effective email marketing you should successfully grow your business!
Marketing = prospects = customers!

When people think of getting traffic to their site, one of the most common thoughts is to submit their URLs to the search engine directories. This method can often take months and months before your site will actually show up in the listings, and can be very time consuming. It is becoming outdated as a method of traffic generation. While it is still important to do this, one thing gaining in popularity these days is building and exchanging links with other websites, and making sure your link is on other people's sites, pointing back to your site. It is a free and extremely powerful way of advertising!

How do we generate links to our site? One of the ways is through participating in forums. When we do this, we normally include a signature at the bottom of all our posts with a link to our website. When visitors of the forum read a quality post, which offers some valuable information, tips, or help, they are more inclined to click on the link at the bottom of the post, giving you more traffic and potential sales.

Another way to spread your links around the internet is to write and submit articles, with your author information at the bottom, including a link to your site. When a publisher reads your article and gets something of value out of it, they may publish your article on their site or in their newsletter, or even just click on your author link, taking them to your site right away. Again, this is free advertising. Normally your articles and links, once published, will stay on the internet indefinitely, providing you with free advertising for life. A blog would work in the same way, in that you make a post with your author information and URL at the bottom of the post. You can also make comments on other people's posts, leaving your link behind on other people's websites.

Reciprocal linking is one popular linking method. This means that you exchange links with other websites. If you link to their site, they will link to your site - a win-win situation for both. This can be done manually, or with special linking software like Link Machine that automates the process and saves you time. You want to link to sites that have similar content to yours. Linking to your competitors can be a good thing because their website content is similar to yours. However, you risk possibly losing a sale to one of them if they click on that link instead of yours.

One-way linking where you don't have to exchange links, but can just leave yours, is perhaps the better way to go. Posting in forums, writing and submitting articles, and blogs are good ways to get one-way links pointing back to your site. You can also submit your URL to various web directories for free, or a small fee, either manually or with special software like Link Directory Submitter to automate and speed up the process. There are millions of web directory sites, so the number of links you can submit pointing back to your site are practically infinite.

One last thing: Don't forget to be consistent with every action you take, i.e. Contribute to forums, write articles and blogs, and submit your links regularly! Consistency in the end is what produces results!

Many people recognize Linux as the best type of web hosting solution around, because of the added advantages of this solutions, which provide reliability, security, functionality, and affordability all in the one package.

Linux Servers Advantages Linux servers have been known to run for long periods of time without technical difficulties or down time being experienced, which is a considerable achievement since many Microsoft servers need to refresh and reboot their operating systems at regular intervals.

Linux installations have no known vulnerabilities in their security operating system; however, it is still considered a priority of Linux to keep their systems running with the best degree of security around.

Linux also offers its customers the added advantage of cheaper Linux based web hosting solutions. This is largely due to open source distributions; hosts generally pass these savings onto their customers, making Linux solutions extremely affordable.

Disadvantages of Linux Servers With every advantage of a solution, there has to be disadvantages as well, Linux hosting solutions are no exception to this rule. One of the main disadvantages of Linux based applications is that they are unable to accommodate windows applications and the coding conversions. This can spell disaster for websites that have been coded especially for windows based applications.

When choosing a web hosting provider for Linux, make sure he offers all the basics services on security, including firewall, load balance for the servers, Denial of Attack (DOS) protection.

Also, there are some basics services any service should include, such as MYSQL services, statistics (preferably two scripts), antivirus and antispam services (added or included) and the possibility to add your own scripts via FTP. If provider doesn't include SSH access (this is very common), make sure they can offer you support to install those scripts. Of course, if your script presents a security flaw, your provider may ask you to change it or deny installing it altogether. Windows web servers Windows web hosting solutions provide many benefits such as NET support, ASP, visual basic C++ and pearl scripts. Windows are also known for their dynamic page displays. All windows plans, as well as MSSql for more experienced webmasters support the Microsoft Access 2000 database and are generally easy and strait forward to apply codes to.

Be aware that a Microsoft Access database, although simple to use is a limited option, and should not be considered if you are planning your site to grow. However, it is a very good option for small sites with little growth.

Although Windows hosting packages offer a large number of benefits and extras, the fact that they have the odd security problem, are prone to down time, and scheduled rebooting on a regular basis remains a viable disadvantage to using windows servers as an option for your web site.

While the choice of a web hosting provider is an individual decision, those looking for a business solution should consider the benefits and disadvantages of both windows and Linux severs before making a choice.

What does a virus have to do with marketing? Viral marketing describes any strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, creating the potential for exponential growth in the message's exposure and influence. Like viruses, such strategies take advantage of rapid multiplication to explode the message to thousands and then to millions. Public health nurses offer sage advice at flu season: stay away from people who cough, wash your hands often, and don't touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. Viruses only spread when they're easy to transmit. Viral e-mail marketing works great on the Internet because instant communication has become so easy and inexpensive. Digital format make copying simple. From a marketing standpoint, you must simplify your marketing message so it can be transmitted easily and without degradation. Short is better. Remember the K.I.S.S. standard?.Keep it Simple Stupid. The shorter and easier to remember is always better than long and complicated. Clever viral marketing plans take advantage of common human motivations. The desire to be cool and greed drives people. So does the hunger to be popular, loved, and understood. The resulting urge to communicate produces millions of websites and billions of e-mail messages. Most people are social. Nerdy, basement-dwelling computer science grad students are the exception. Social scientists tell us that each person has a network of 8 to 12 people in their close network of friends, family, and associates. People on the Internet develop networks of relationships, too. They collect e-mail addresses and favorite website URLs. Affiliate programs exploit such networks, as do permission e-mail lists. Learn to place your message into existing communications between people, and you rapidly multiply its dispersion. If you can design a marketing strategy that builds on common motivations and behaviors for its transmissionHealth Fitness Articles, you have a winner.

Viral marketing revisited....

 by: Richard Grady

If you have spent any time at all studying Internet marketing, then you are bound to have come across the term 'viral marketing'. In fact, it is one of the first things that most people learn about when starting their Internet journey and very often it is a subject that is quickly forgotten or discarded as being an unrealistic way of generating traffic. However, I did something this week which made me look at viral marketing in a new light and proved to me that it is incredibly effective.

For those that don't know, viral marketing is used to generate traffic and it works by getting other people to spread the word about your website. Because of the fact that you are using other people, your 'message' can spread across the Internet very quickly - just like a virus, hence the name.

One of the most common ways of using viral marketing is by writing an eBook that contains links back to your website and allowing other people to give the eBook away or resell it to their own customers. If you manage this process correctly, you can end up with hundreds or even thousands of people distributing your eBook. Because of the fact that every eBook has a note of your website link in it, a fair proportion of the ultimate readers can be expected to click through to your site (and hopefully a few of these will buy something from you).

Of course, viral marketing doesn't have to be based around an eBook - another way of using this technique is to create a site that is very unique or amusing. The sort of site that you look at and 'just have to tell your friends about'. These sites can generate huge levels of traffic in a very short space of time as each person emails their friends to pass on the website URL.

Now, the reason that I say that people often give up on viral marketing as being unrealistic is because it can seem like an incredible task to write or design something that is going to have mass appeal AND then get the word out to enough people and persuade them to start passing your eBook/link/whatever on to even more people. Also, viral marketing doesn't always happen quickly - it can take several months or even longer for the traffic to start flowing at a reasonable level. To be honest, I am pretty much an 'I want it now' kinda guy and for this reason, I haven't really relied on viral marketing that much for my own businesses (or so I thought!)

So what happened this week?

Well, nothing super-exciting really - I simply did a search on Google for the following term: 'UK-Trader's UK Wholesale Guide'. As many of you will know, this was the first eBook I ever published back in 2001. I also issued resale rights on the first version of the eBook (again in 2001) but quickly stopped selling the rights as I was spending too much time policing those that chose to sell it in breach of the resale rights conditions.

Anyway, my Google search revealed over 2,000 search results for the above term! Now, whilst some of these results related to my own websites and those of my affiliates, a massive number were in respect of sites that were selling the 'resale rights' version of the eBook or that were acting as an affiliate for someone else that had the resale rights.

Considering that I had only issued resale rights in limited numbers, during a period of just a few months and over three years ago, I found the number of search results quite incredible. Just imagine what sort of numbers I could have generated if I hadn't stopped selling the resale rights and had allowed my viral marketing to continue.

Even if each of the above references/links generates only one visitor to my websites each month, that is still over 2000 free visitors every single month. In addition, not only do these visitors not cost me anything but I don't have to do anything to get them :-)

I was so surprised at the above results that I am planning on releasing resale rights to the latest version of my wholesale guide in the near future and if you have a product to which you can apply a viral marketing technique, I strongly recommend that you give it a try. What have you got to lose? More importantly, what have you got to gain?

One other thing to bear in mind is that once the word is out 'virally', it is quite literally impossible to stop the traffic that your marketing virus will create. So to sum it up, if you get it right and create the perfect viral marketing campaign, you will end up with FREE traffic every month that you don't need to DO ANYTHING to receive and that would be IMPOSSIBLE to stop, even if you wanted to! Sounds great to me :-)

We have all see these deals from time to time "Lifetime Web Hosting! Pay one price for the lifetime of your account!" On the surface the deal seems to be good. But is it? There are several questions you should ask yourself before you consider such a deal, because you may not get your money's worth out of it, and you may experience some other unfortunate consequences. So how do you know if lifetime web hosting is right for you?

1. How long will you have your web hosting account?

The first question to ask yourself is how long will you have a hosting account for the particular site you are building? The way most lifetime hosting offers work is they determine how long (in months) an average customer stays with their company and multiply that number by their monthly selling price for a web hosting account. They will then use that number to determine how much to charge as a one time hosting fee.

If you are only planning to have your account for 1 year or less, it probably isn't worth it to purchase a lifetime web hosting account, as you will be charged a premium for your hosting account.

If you plan on keeping your account for more than 2 or 3 years, it may be worth the price, but you will have to answer the following questions to see if a lifetime hosting account is really for you.

2. Is your web site going to require a lot of resources?

If you plan on having a web site that has a high amount of traffic, or will actively use a database, you may want to re-think your purchase. Companies that sell lifetime hosting accounts make money from you once, but their expenses happen every month. As a result, they have to continue to sell lifetime web hosting accounts in order to make enough income to pay their expenses, which gives them a strong motive to minimize.

One of the expenses, is server space and capacity. The more servers a web hosting company has, the more their monthly expenses are. One way to reduce their expenses, is to put more hosting accounts on a server than it can reasonably handle with the expectation that most websites will not use the full capacity of their account. Many times, these servers are oversold on space and bandwidth (think of an airline selling more tickets than they have seats for a specific flight).

The result is that sites on these servers tend to be slower than average, and if you have a site that has a lot of traffic, many of your visitors may have trouble getting to your site, and will leave before your web page shows up in their browser.

If this situation isn't important to you, the next question is certainly one you should be asking yourself.

3. What is the refund policy of the hosting company?

Since many of the servers in these lifetime hosting companies are overloaded, they usually take a zero tolerance policy on any web site that causes any extra load on the server, which may cause it to crash, and it can be a one strike and your out, with no refund.

On over-extended servers, (servers with more hosting accounts on them than they have capacity for), it is very easy to create an overload on the server. It can be as simple as having a lot of page views from the traffic the website gets, or having your blog attacked by a bunch of robot scripts trying to post comment spam to your blog. There is nothing you can do about it in these cases, but it can cause a server that is already at it's limit, to crash.

If this happens after only 6 months into your web hosting contract, you may be totally out of luck and have your site shut down with no refund. In this case, it would have been a very expensive hosting service. Be sure to check the terms of service before purchasing this type of hosting.

4. Do you expect a high level of customer service?

The quality of the customer service goes along with the theme of reducing expenses. One of the first places most customers experience in expense cutting is the level of customer service. Much of the time, customer service is outsourced and overseas. There may be language barriers to contend with as well as some delays in getting your questions answered, and problems resolved. Sometimes you may have to deal with less experienced hosting administrators, but by no means do you find the less experienced customer service representatives only in the lifetime web hosting arena.

This is an important factor to consider because if the customer service is really bad, you may be forced to leave the hosting company and walk away from your entire hosting investment. Be sure to get as much information as you can about the particular company you are considering, especially their level of customer service and their technical competency.

When asking the question, "Is lifetime web hosting right for me?" you want to determine what kind of site you plan on having, and how you plan to use it (will there be heavy traffic or not?), how long you plan on having your web site up, and some other factors such as how important are things such as customer service to you. In a limited number of circumstances, lifetime web hosting can be a deal as it is better than free hosting, but if you step outside of the limited situations, you may end up paying a lot more than you bargained for.

Look for resource sites to help you with deciding how to pick your web hosting.

List building has become one of the buzzwords in internet marketing lately. There are so many list builders out there it isn?t even funny. I must be on about 300 lists ? I get about 100 promotional emails everyday. Crazy thing is ? I only open about 5 of them ? and they are from the same people everyday. The people who?s emails I open are people who have built my trust. You have to build trust and relationships before you can make any money with it.

List building is just about the most lucrative, consistent thing you can do online, in my opinion. Sure, writing a sales page is lucrative, if you have a good product, and you write a good sales page. But there is no better traffic to send to your new sales page than your list traffic. So it is your list that actually makes you money. Sure, some people make money selling things online and do not build a list ? but let me ask you this, how much more money could they make if they built relationships with their visitors and sold them product after product for many years, rather than just the one product they sell the first time someone visits their web site?

So how much money can YOU make in list building? First off, it will vary depending one your niche area. It will vary depending on the types of people on your list. It will vary depending on the financial position of the people on your list. And yes, all of those things are controllable by you. You can choose your niche. You can choose who opts in to your list. You can choose the financial position and propensity to spend money of the people on your list

Whether you wish to begin your own email list or you already have what you think is a formidable one, run an eye over the check list below and see if it can help in any which way.

Are your sign-ups easy? The size of your sign-up form is inversely proportionate to the number of people who will actually complete it. Stick to an email ID and a Submit button and see how your email lists fatten up. Also, the link to sign up must be visibly placed on all pages of your site ? no one is going to spend a minute hunting for it.

Do you request for it in everywhere? Auto responder emails, blog posts, forums, discussions, casual or confirmation emails, referrals, testimonials, et al. Your request to sign up ? even for a free ezine ? should appear everywhere. And don?t forget the old media ? put it in leaflets, brochures, print articles, seminars, presentations, etc should all have a link to your sign-up page.

Do you ask friends? STAF or Send to a Friend is one of the critical ways of expanding your email lists. STAF also leads to word of mouth referrals, forwards, recommendations, etc.

Are you requests easy and interesting? Is your text easy to read, does it compel a person to read further? Does it tease and tantalize and does it excite curiosity and a desire to sign up?

Remember, someone is surrendering their email ID ? with the possibility of attracting more spam ? and therefore, your aim should be to make it impossible for them to go away without signing up.

So you managed to build an amazing website that you know your visitors would love. You have installed fantastic features that are guaranteed to blow them away. And you have included a lot of cool freebies to boot, just to leave them with something they could be happy about. It?s a blockbuster, and it?s just a matter of time.

The problem is, how exactly would people get to know that your website exists? Surely, they must first learn about its existence before they could visit it, right?

Well, it?s a fair assumption that 80% of the traffic that you?d be able to generate for your website would come from the search engines. Therefore, it is essential that you submit your website to as many search engines as possible. The process starts way before submission, of course, as you would have to optimize your web pages to constantly and efficiently win the attention of the search engine spiders.

Sounds like hard work? Well, this is something that you must do to assure a high volume of traffic for your website, dear friend. You have to employ certain tactics to get a better chance at online success.

But this is the realm of search engine optimization, or SEO as it is fondly called.

You could also try viral marketing and article marketing. The former would fetch for you an exponentially increasing traffic at a regular pace. The latter would result in a boost of users that would get to visit your web pages. Both strategies pursue the goal of exposing your website?s link to as many people as possible. Viral marketing would allow you to continuously spread your link through the use of a free product, which is usually an eBook or a special report, with words to encourage the recipients to distribute the same to their respective networks. Article marketing involves the submission of an article to the many article directories in the World Wide Web. Each article comes with a resource box that includes a link to your website.

Both strategies entail some work, specifically writing.

Are there easier ways to win traffic, you might ask? Well, there are some tactics that require little work yet provides substantial results. Let?s take a look at them.

? Increase your link popularity. Link popularity simply means the number of websites that contain links to yours. If you want to know what your website?s current link popularity is, just use the free tool at www.linkpopularity.com . Convincing other webmasters to display links to your web pages can either be very easy or very difficult. If you have befriended some webmasters throughout your online experience, this would be a cinch. Otherwise, expect to barter for such a spot on their websites, either in exchange for your goods or services, or by allowing them to display their links on your web pages as well.

? Buy spots. Most of the time, money does all the talking, and convincing. If you can?t talk them into allowing your links to be displayed on their websites, simply buy a spot on their web pages. Usually, you?d be given the spot for a month, with the option to renew the agreement every month thereafter.

? The previous two tips are about linking to other websites. Make sure that you choose popular websites. The purpose here is to garner visitors from highly visited sites to check out your web pages. If the other website generates less traffic than yours, your efforts would just be for naught.

? Try Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. This would require some financial investment from you. Overture and Google AdWords are the most prominent PPC advertising programs today. You just have to pay the program for every visitor they manage to refer to your website. You don?t have to worry about going broke, as you could always set a daily limit of how much you want to spend.

? Try traffic exchange programs. There are free ones and there are paid ones. Free traffic exchange programs allow you to join a membership community. For every website you visit, you will earn a certain number of credits. You could use these credits to purchase traffic for your own site. Paid traffic exchange programs don?t require you to visit other websites, but you do have to bring out some cash to avail of their benefits.

The traffic strategy you employ should depend on the nature and the goals of your website. A careful study of the benefits and consequences of each tactic should be made before resorting to them. Make sure that they are a perfect match for what you want your website to achieve.
